Connecting Instagram Direct Messages

Instagram Channel Setup

Connect your Instagram Business account to manage Direct Messages from the Helpium inbox.

Prerequisites

• An Instagram Business or Creator account
• A Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account
• Admin access to the Facebook Page

Connecting Instagram

1. Go to Settings → Channels → Instagram
2. Click Connect Instagram
3. You'll be redirected to Facebook to authorize Helpium
4. Grant the required permissions

Selecting Your Page

After authorization, you'll see a list of your Facebook Pages with linked Instagram accounts:

1. Select the Page connected to the Instagram account you want to use
2. Click Confirm to complete the setup

Helpium automatically subscribes to message events for the selected page.

Receiving Messages

Incoming Instagram DMs appear as conversations in your inbox with the Instagram channel indicator. Reply directly from Helpium and your response is sent as an Instagram DM.

AI-Enabled Responses

Toggle AI Enabled in the channel settings to let the chatbot handle Instagram conversations.

Disconnecting Instagram

Go to Settings → Channels → Instagram and click Disconnect to remove the integration. This stops new messages from being received but preserves existing conversation history.
