Organizing Articles with Categories

Category Management

Categories provide structure to your knowledge base and help customers navigate your help center.

Creating a Category

  1. Go to Knowledge Base → Categories
  2. Click New Category
  3. Fill in the details:
    • Name: The category display name
    • Description: A brief description of what the category contains
    • Icon: Select an icon to represent the category
    • Parent Category: Optionally nest this category under a parent
    • Visibility: Toggle whether the category is visible in the help center

Nested Categories

Categories support a parent-child hierarchy. For example:

  • Getting Started (parent)
    • Quick Start Guide (child)
    • Installation (child)
    • First Steps (child)

Child categories inherit the workspace scope and are displayed indented under their parent in the help center.

Reordering Categories

Drag and drop categories in the category list to change their display order. The position is saved automatically.

Editing a Category

Click on any category to edit its name, description, icon, visibility, or parent relationship.

Deleting a Category

Deleting a category does not delete its articles. Articles in a deleted category will have their category set to none and can be reassigned to another category.
